Holiness vs. Halloween
For all those seeking TRUTH, KNOWLEDGE, WISDOM & RIGHTEOUSNESS!!
It’s everywhere ! Target! Gas Stations! Uuugh! My heart almost jumped out of my chest the other day at the grocery store as a life sized witch in the middle of the Halloween aisle began to move and speak! Seriously?! WHAAAT! WHY is this OK?
The sidewalks are swarming with excited children and young people masquerading as every imaginable creature and character…witches, animals, vampires, ghosts, mummies, cartoon characters, alien beings, clowns, devils, skeletons, hideous looking monsters, bloody mutilated beings and then the cute bumble bees, super heros, fairy princesses, pumpkins and more. These kids go door to door shouting “Trick or Treat”, hoping to collect a “ton” of candy before the night is over. Take a look at the houses and yards the children are approaching. Many of them are decorated in a bizarre motif. Tombstones, graves with body parts exposed, ghosts, caldrons, supposed bodies hung by the neck are scattered around the yard and in the trees. Eerie grinning Jack-O-Lanterns watch as the children approach. Skeletons, scarecrows, witches, black cats, etc. decorate the doors and windows. The Then Halloween Concerts with the local bands. Oh yes, then there is an array of seasonal entertainment. Ghost Hunts, or “haunted houses”. Groups of kids talking about what they’ve just seen inside…the bloody body in the bathtub, the axe wielding maniac that chased them, the monster that jumped out swinging at them with a chain saw, the body hanging by the neck in the closet, and the refrigerator in the kitchen filled with bloody body parts. Then, across town there are parties going on. The activities are different than the usual party though. bobbing for apples, bonfires, and groups playing with the OUIJA boards or telling scarey stories. Everyone is out watching the latest horror movies. Then there are those who go out into the night to cause trouble.
To most people it seems like harmless fun.
BUT, beneath Halloween’s candy coating is evil that is directly connected to the occult, witchcraft and satanism.( To understand more I have added some links below )November 1st used to be a Christian holiday celebrating those who died for the sake of the Gospel. It was called All Hallows’ Day, so the day before was called All Hallows’ Eve. The name was changed to Halloween. Study the word: Hallow = saints; ween, [wean] = to withdraw from the practice of. So when we say the name of Halloween, we are basically saying the withdrawing away from being a saint, or a Christian.
You may now be saying, “I am not involved in anything like that!!!”
Let me ask you;
if you put on clothes to go to the grocery store, go to the grocery store, buy groceries,
come home with groceries, would you be participating in grocery shopping?
Yes, you would.
When you go to the grocery store, do you buy everything that’s there?
No, you don’t,
but you did still participate in grocery shopping, right?
“If the root is holy, so are the branches,” (Rom. 11:16); likewise if the root, (or where something began) of what we are partaking of is unholy so is any part of or association with it.
ANY PARTICIPATION IN THIS HOLIDAY Is showing SUPPORT of it.
God tells us we can not separate out the parts we want to hang onto because that part seems O.K. and just get rid of the “bad” part. He tells us the entire thing is defiled, (foul, contaminated, unclean), and we are to stay away from it, (Deut. 7:25,26; 2 Cor. 6:11-7:1).
Also, remember that satan and his demons come disguised as angels of light, (2 Cor. 11:14,15). In other words, they try to make things seem good or OK so you will become involved with it when it actually is evil.
We are told to do all things to the glory of God, (1 Cor. 10:31).
Does it glorify God when you participate in Halloween?
Whenever the apostles met persons connected with fortune-telling, witchcraft or the occult, the Holy Spirit dealt firmly and swiftly with them. When revival came to Ephesus, the occult books were the first to go (Acts 19:18-19). Anything that conjures up the spirits of evil has to go. And the symbols of Halloween DO conjure up the spirits of evil.
The devil TRIES TO CONVINCE PEOPLE THAT HE DOESN’T EXIST !
And what better way to deny his power and identity than to tell children and their parents that witches, ghosts, fortune-tellers and devils are ‘just for fun?’
“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. Ephesians 5:11
I encourage EVERYONE to not be conformed to the patterns, behaviors, and CUSTOMS of this world, but be transformed into a new person by the renewing of you mind!!!!
Maybe you’ve never heard it presented to you this way before…. Be courageous and make a stand this year to be SET APART and peculiar !! WARNING: Do NOT be surprised when….( Even some of your closest friends and family ) WILL be offended, upset and angry about your choice. They may mock you, or argue with you and call you over religious…or over spiritualizing. I SAY…..So What!! This just means they are not ready to give up their fun. Someone has got to Stand, will it be you? Stand in Love.
It’s not about God pointing His finger towards us in Judgement, it’s about God pointing us closer towards His Heart.
Choose this day whom you will serve!!!
My heart and prayer for all of you is that you will choose Life, the God who loves you without measure!! Will you give up everything to follow Jesus? Are you willing to sacrifice “Your” life for Him ? He did for you!! Please take this ” day” seriously because followers of darkness are!
It is a night for those of us who claim to be set apart to really be in spiritual warfare mode, We should be praying against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6:12)
This note is NOT compelled by condemnation and judgement, but of LOVE!
I LOVE You! I’m not trying to get God points here, I’m just sharing an Amazing revelation that has given me great Joy and a deeper intimate relationship with God.
This is a revelation God has personally given to me after years of celebrating this day, believing it was harmless fun. I have had personal encounters with those who have dabbled in the occult and they have shared with me the real significance of this time. It is not a time to be fearful but to be faithful! This is an awesome time to fast and be with the Lord, praying for those who do not have understanding and for those who are using these days to stir up all that God detests!
I asked God to forgive me and thanked Him for His wonderful grace and mercy. Now I find myself responsible to share the information I’ve found and the wisdom God has given to me out of His heart. His desire is for us to have ALL good things, He does not want to take our fun, He wants to fill our Lives with the things of Heaven! He will satisfy you! He will give you all the desires of your heart as you delight in Him!
For the past few years I’ve just posted my own small page of collected research….But today I feel responsible to allow you to research a little for yourself.
I hope some of these websites release revelation to you, concerning the truth of what is going on…..There is soo much more, I encourage you to look even further for yourselves, seek out TRUTH and righteousness, for there is a reward!! And its Wisdom!!

I want to thank you so much, seriously. I have always been one to not participate in Halloween, and I have felt “left out.” Not until I was older did I realize why it was so important to NOT celebrate it. I have always had to explain to people why I don’t, but now people don’t ask me (people that know me). People that know me have finally got why I don’t celebrate Halloween. Now instead of feeling left out and sorry for myself, I help get a Christian event together to get people to go to to combat this “Holiday.” With help from other people, we make our party about NOT celebrating Halloween.
Again, thank you so much for all your words and insight. I will pass this on to all my friends and students in my youth group that have fallen in love with your music. I hope that God will bless you even more than you can handle, I pray that He will bless your socks off (or Flip Flops)!
Creatively,
Robert “2E” Toohey
P.S. Your music, you, and that you stand for more than just saying you are a christian is awesome. Thanks for living the lifestyle!
Awesome information! Every year I have to explain why we don’t participate in the festivities on 10/31. I’ve obtained information for those who want deeper explanation and to understand better. Your letter is filled with great links and scriptures to review. Thank you! I’m a youth leader at my church and this will be great to share with the young people and their families. Keep doing what you do! Being a Warrior for Christ.
God bless….
Thank you for this. I live in South Africa and we never really used to have anything to do with halloween except what we saw in movies etc.The sad part is that it seemed to have spilled over to our country as well. Any excuse to party it seems. Now I walk past a party shop regularly and have to see the horrible things they are selling. It makes me sad to know that the lack of knowledge is to the detriment of His people. Your message is the kind of info we need to put out there as it’s our duty to be fishers of men and thus also feed our brothers and sisters with the correct information.
God bless you!
I just want to say that you are right on point. Awesome revelation that not too many people have. i don’t celebrate halloween and alot of my friends look at me wierd but i take it as a sign of honor that i can serve God to the fullest and worship him in the way that he chooses.
God bless you, I love your music.
Thank you Beckah for always standing tall and standing strong. When I think of God’s Army, I always picture you in front leading like a true warrior. Your words bring truth and life.. I have no doubt in my mind that God has already prepared great things for you, Shoc, Joy and Grace. Thank you for reminding me of the truth about this day… last year was my first year of not celebrating this “fun” day since we are fairly new to TRULY being and practicing Christianity.. however, knowing what I already knew I found myself asking myself 2 days ago, if I was going to let my girls, 4 and 2, dress up even if we just stayed home and pretended to have a party… Thank you for reminding me that we cannot/should not play for both teams. Thank you for reminding me that I am on Team Jesus. Also, thank you for you scripture snacks.. I kid you not, every morning I find myself waking up to your words gracefully dancing in my head reminding me to Delight myself in the Lord and He will give me the desires of my heart!!! You have no idea how much I lean on your songs to fight the good battle. I love your music. I love your funky personality. I love your voice. I love you. But most of all, I love what You stand for. Yeshua!!! Chaim!!… b.t.w. I got my love glasses on!!!!
OKAY, Beckah, Thats INSANE. (when I say insane i mean mind bobbling…) when I read that I was in so much shock you have no idea. I had no idea. I was never allowed to go trick or treating and it never really bothered me until maybe two years ago. I’ve only gone trick or treating once in my life, last year and thats my last time! God wants our all or nothing. If I cant give him that part of my life then…i’ve got some working to do…but thankfully I am giving that part to God. “Lord, just take it and vanish it faaarrr away from my life!”
Thank You so much for that blog Beckah!
Oh and I lovvve your POP MEDLEY VERSION!!!!!
(p.s. I used some of your piece and posted it on the Emerge JV website for the Crossing Church…)
Nicole
God bless you for sharing this sister !
This year was the first year we did not participate. I have two children 9 and 10. I did however take them to a harvest festival at church. But it really made no sense to me because everyone there was dressed up. I seen witches and demons there too. My kids did not wear costumes. My older daughter has a son and she had him dressed up but I have no control over that. I wish I would of seen this post sooner, I could of shown her although I will show all my kids anyway and explain to then. This is why my house does not celebrate this day any more.
Thanks for all the info God bless
Marcy
Since yesterday was the holiday, my school prayer group Souled Out Revolution collected canned goods for our local food pantry. We trick or treated for those cans instead of candy. Although some of the group dressed pretty creepy, some did not or dressed plainly. I feel that Souled Out collected cans for the glory of God, and I wonder would God be “not impressed” with us doing this because we are trying to make a difference in our community and the world? I’d really like to know what you think as a reader.
Thank you so much for posting this! It will help clarify our decision! I’ll share this with my son and hubby.
Spoken well sister!
You wrote, “If the root is holy, so are the branches,” (Rom. 11:16);

Thank you for sharing this with us. I don’t like Halloween. Every October I cringe at the thought of that holiday approaching because every year I am faced with the peer pressure from family and friends to join them in various festivities on this day, including my church family. (The devil is persistant!!!) And I’ll admitt it’s hard not to join in along with other Christian friends who see and try to convince me that this day is an “innocent way for kids to dress up and have fun”. I am very encouraged by your blog to stand firm and be prepared with the facts regarding Halloween for next year.
Also, I’m not sure if you posted a link to this blog this year on Facebook, but would you do it next year? Thank you and God bless you Beckah Shae!!!
Wow! you are so right! Thank you for writing this! I too used to do Halloween, I never went to the creepy looking houses but I still dressed up. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!! God bless you so much for what you do you truly sing for the glory of God!
I like the pic, sis
. although the stars in my minds eye can not be discribed with words, save these. It is pure, washed in the blood of Christ Jesus, and that is only the beging. A star maid of many colors, with a heart of gold…., perfect in buety because he sees you is you:) For it is written the streets are maid of gold, you oh sis are one of many (golden), and I love you, be strong…. for me. I am a Jewel, a color.
Wow, I am SOOOOOO thankful fo ryour post I am an aweosm efan of your music an dnow your blogs. I knew there was something quirky everything I said the word “halloween” It really does feel better when you say All Saints Eve. I actually am born on All Saints Eve 10/31 and I LOVE IT. Thanks Beckah….you helped me a lot
That is awesome! Thank you for writing this, it is so nice to see people taking a stand for the heart of the Lord!
God bless you!
Thank the Lord for you Beckah!!!
I learned about 2 years ago that Halloween was at first a very holy day for Christians and believed that it was alright to celebrate it. But today I decided to come on your blog and show this topic.
When I finished it I was truly shocked and extremely grateful. I never knew that All Hallows Day was made for those who died for the Gospel, or that the name ‘Halloween’ meant that I was stopping my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
This has woken me up about some facts for ‘holidays’ that the world is putting out. I am going to send this to my friends for she it as ‘harmless fun’. I will continue to pray and support you in your blogging and music career (I truly love your latest album LIFE). Continue the great work and keep that faith going stronger than before.
Thank the Lord for you Beckah!

Growing up i was never allowed to celebrate halloween. That is also the day of my birthday and every year i would cry and ask God why he made me born on that.growing up i then realized that God does everything for a reason. He uses me to talk to my peers about why halloween is bad and the importance for me as a christian not to celebrate. I am glad you posted this up, I will definitely share this with my friends and youth group. At my church we celebrate Elohim instead of halloween.
Thank you Beckah… I chose life from the Author of Life, Jesus Christ Himself… My house will be celebrating Him on that night….blessings towards His soon return….Chris
Thanks Beckah for writing this, its been on my heart for the past few days to tell all of my friends and relatives, I didn’t want to offend or sound religious. You have given me the inspiration to remember that we have to take a stand and be honored and proud to be set apart for God. Its in the little things that the dwevil tries to take our blessings and joy, celebrating Halloween means no blessings coming our way if we serve both Masters. God Bless.
Beautiful blog! And I completely agree! Most of my friends think I’m crazy but my family just doesn’t do halloween because we think its wrong.
Great blog! Thank you Beckah for taking a stand on informing ppl about Halloween origins,I do the same because I was ignorant of this even as a born-again believer years ago. Dueteronomy 12 Yah tells His people to not inquire about what the heathan (pagans) do and then DO as they do! Which to me includes acknowledging 10/31. Trick or treating origins in Celtic Druids who would go house to house looking for those who would offer their virgin daughters for sacrifice on 10/31 eve..the households who refused this “treat” for the druids would then get a hex, bad spell (trick) on their household. I use to but now I don’t believe in mixing the holy days of Yah..like “Harvest parties” Sukkoween..with demonic 10/31 day. I see churches, congregation who gladly participate in the Fall feast and 10/31. I attended a messianic congregation and was shocked that the “rabbi” took his kids trick or treating. I confronted him about it and informed him of 10/31 origins which he already knew and did anyway. As born again believers we are to have discernment of spirits, have nothing to do with deeds of “darkness. The “rabbi” kinda blew me off but I hope & pray his eyes will be opened and convicted by Ruach Ha’Kodesh, educate his kids on 10/31 origins and take them out to dinner instead of exposing them to all that demonic activity on 10/31 which is still celebrated by witches, occultists as the most important “holy” day of the year to them.
Wow i hate alloween but i really liked the way you said this but i was taught at a young agethe real reason why we celebrate halloween and i am grateful for that
Wonderful Info..God Bless You
My niece birthday is on Halloween and before I came to Christ and when she was born , I dropped my celebration of wearing costumes and going out to clubs and etc. just for her . It’s truly none of my business that my sister still dresses her up and takes her out trick or treating every year but I pray she will come to her senses and just do the same like I am , especially just celebrate her birthday without halloween , because that’s her daughter and she should stop that too .
Thank you Beckah! It’s so refreshing to find out that my family and I aren’t the only ones who disagree with Halloween. I’m a teenager, and every year I come up against a lot of peer pressure, ridicule, and “cold shoulder” treatment because we don’t do Halloween. They truly don’t understand that Halloween is evil- it’s very sad, because most of them are nice kids being led farther and farther astray. Thanks for standing up and speaking out!
I’m 12 and i went to school at a private school (elementary). Everyone there celebrated Halloween and I would get calls from friends saying “Would you come and *trick-or-treat* with me at……”. Sometimes i DID feel left out because on that night .I’d have to one to call or no one to talk to because they’re all ‘having fun’. I’m sometimes laughed at when I say I don’t celebrate Halloween. As T.D. Jakes said “Change you HALLOWEEN party into a HALLELUJAH party!” I did have such an idea, saying I could invite my friends over on that day, but WHO WOULD COME?? I really love the explanation of HALLOW and WEEN! Telling my friends this would be a wonderful idea but its still up to there parents ,in a way. I really want my friends to do the right thing. I always said that i would wait till I’m 18 but you never know when your expiry date is….
i had no idea…my mom always told me it was wrong.i didn’t listen to her, jesus forgive me
Wow! I needed that! I try my best to convince my husband that it’s wrong but he won’t take it. He grew up participating in, well you know what. We get into an almost full blown argument because I don’t want our kids involved in it but he insists it’s “for the kids”. I don’t like it one bit. This just affirms to me that I need to take a stand. Not just for myself, but so my children will grow up with the strength to stand up for what is right! Thank you so much Beckah!
